Family carers dementia workshop at Whitfield WI

Many thanks to the women at Whitfield WI who attended a Dementia Awareness workshop yesterday. It is always good to speak to people who really ‘get’ the need for awareness of Alzheimers and other dementias. Particular thanks to Jan who made things happen!100_2045sml

At Inchwater Home Care, we understand that in order to provide the best care, family members may also need support.

Dementia is a life-changing condition that affects the ability to do everyday tasks. A diagnosis of dementia for a loved one can be a worrying time for the carer, family and friends. We can help you to understand what dementia is and some of the changes that might be expected.

We know from personal experience that having a better understanding of what the future may hold, how life may be affected and what help is available, are ways in which family carer’s can be better equipped to face the journey ahead.

A series of free dementia awareness workshops designed specifically for family carers is now available in the following areas:
• Ashford
• Dover
• Deal
• Canterbury

With future workshops becoming available in:
• Sandwich
• Shepway

Workshops are delivered in two-hour sessions and are very practical; they are designed to give family carers tools and techniques that are immediately useful. These informal sessions include:

• Understanding Dementia
• Managing changing behaviour
• Life after dementia

Paul said “I have had some superb feedback about these courses and family carers are keen to make a start. Currently, we have courses in Deal, Canterbury and Ashford and are looking for venues in Thanet. Hopefully we will be able to make a start there soon as there is clearly a need”.

Contact us on 01304 241684 for venues and times.
