Dementia Friendly Deal

Inchwater Home Care is pleased to announce that our Dementia Friendly Communities project for Deal is now live!

A partnership between Inchwater Home Care and Deal Centre for the Retired (Age Concern) has allowed us to create the first Dementia Friendly Community in the area, reaching the entire community of Deal and Walmer.

The project now has accreditation from the Alzheimer’s Society and Inchwater Home Care are the first care provider to sign up to the Kent Dementia Action Alliance.

A Dementia Friendly Community is one where residents, businesses, charities and schools work together to create a community in which someone with dementia is supported and valued.  In some cases, this might mean just allowing more time (in a shop queue, for example) or it might mean having a little knowledge about dementia that could be passed on to others.

The idea behind the project is to make sure the person with dementia can maintain a good quality of life whilst living at home.

Inchwater Home Care’s  role in the project is to offer training and workshops about dementia.  We offer 1hr Dementia Awareness sessions for anyone who wants to learn a little more, as well as a more indepth workshop for family carer’s. All courses are absolutely FREE.

Please visit www.dementiafriendlydeal.org.uk for dates of our next courses in your area, or call us on 01304 241684 for more details.
