Its that time of year where the sun comes out, you turn your heating off and resolutely refuse to turn it back on again because its Spring. Regardless of how cold it gets.
Older adults tend to feel the cold more, and even when the sun comes out to play may not open a window for fear of a draft. They may never take their vest and long johns because wearing them is cheaper than putting the heating on. Older adults may not have a summer duvet to swap for the warmer winter one and are likely to always wear pyjamas or a long sleeved high necked long nightie.
When does the fear of being cold take over your daily routine? What age are you when the first few warm days of spring are not celebrated by wearing a lighter coat, not wearing a hat and gloves, or not opening a window to let some warmed fresh air in?
The joy of a change to a season that will be brighter and warmer is lost on some and that makes me sad. Spring takes a while to get used to as it still can be chilly but as a prelude to summer it is worth celebrating.
