Spreading the Dementia message to Community Wardens

What an eventful week!  Two very successful Dementia Awareness Workshops for local authority groups and a SOVA training and assessment day.

This means that another forty or so community professionals from Dover and Shepway Community Wardens and Canterbury Community Safety Unit, have a greater understanding of Dementia and have some very useful tools and techniques to draw upon when working with people with cognitive issues.

Feedback from the courses has been very positive with one Community Warden attendee saying “…this workshop was excellent – it should be available to everyone that works in the community!”  We couldn’t agree more!

On Wednesday, staff from a leading voluntary sector respite provider attended a Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults training session and all four attendees passed the final assessment for their NCFE Level 2 certificate.  Congratulations to Caroline, Li-Chieh, Paula and Eileen – well deserved passes!

Inchwater Home Care offer Dementia Awareness Sessions to family carers FREE of charge.  Workshops provide information on dementia and provides simple techniques to manage changing behaviour.
