Dementia ‘drop-in’ success

Dover District Dementia Action Alliance (DDDAA) hosted a ‘dementia drop-in’ at Dover Town Council offices in Biggin Street yesterday, attracting many community organisations and even more members of the public.

Community organisations attending included Carer’s Support, Kent Fire and Rescue, NHS and, of course, Inchwater Home Care.

Bridget Abercombie, Inchwater’s Community Liaison and Senior Caregiver said “This was a fantastic opportunity for members of the community to find advice and information about their local services. I am really pleased at how busy it has been!”

Two very successful Dementia Friends sessions saw more than 25 people commit to turning understanding into action and comments received from participants included “…a very well presented, professional, information session – thank-you!”DDDAA - early morning

Congratulations have to go to the principle organisers of the day, Pam Brivio, Tracey Hubbard and Dawn Hyde, whose hard work made the event such a success.

The next meeting for the DDDAA is on Tuesday 19th July at 2pm at Maison Dieu House, Biggin Street. If you provide dementia services, would like more information about dementia, or just have an interest in dementia in the Dover and Deal community, you would be very welcome to attend!
