Dover Community Regatta

A Fantastic day at the sea!

What an epic day! First, a massive thanks to everyone in the community who made it through gridlocked Dover to come and see us.

Mind you, it was a close thing early in the morning as we tried to transport two tables, a gazebo and all of our display kit across town by hand <phew!>. Maddie setting up

We must have made an hilarious sight as we pulled, pushed, hoisted and dragged everything we needed for the day, from one side of town to the other – twice! Thanks, at this stage, go to Rachael who helped take the strain at 7:30am and Phoebe who met us there.

We were very pleasantly surprised to see so many other stall holders attend and the day just got busier and busier.

Community workAs well as displaying our own services, we had a lot of interest from old and young alike for our community work supporting Pilgrim’s Hospice, Kent Air Ambulance and EKHUFT Dementia Nurses. Our knitting campaigns and stamp collections have been incredibly successful this year and we managed to
‘recruit’ several new helpers during the day.

We were delighted to have so many of our caregivers visit us throughout the day and were equally delighted to have almost as many enquiries from people considering working with us.

Similarly, we had an excellent response from people looking for care for themselves or for loved ones, many of Busy, busy!whom have already booked to see Maddie. To top it all, we had several existing clients pop down to see us and it was great to finally put faces to names.

Finally, to top it all off, it was a lovely sunny day with a light onshore breeze. What more could we possibly ask for?

If you would like to know more about our community work, or if you might be able to support us and our adopted charities, please call Bridget on 01304 241684.

If you are considering care work as a career, please call us as we are recruiting now for an August start.
